THE ROAD WE TRAVELLED TO GET HERE

The Early Years

As a boy growing up surrounded by dairy farms in rural Eastern Ontario, Doug Beckstead discovered his love of farming and an interest in heavy equipment at an early age.

Majoring in Agriculture at University, Doug landed a job hauling loads of soybeans and corn to mills in Southwestern Ontario – an opportunity that ignited his passion for transport driving.  At the age of 21, Doug became the youngest bulk fuel transport driver hauling for Sunoco in Canada.

Fuelled by ambition and a desire to own his own equipment, Doug purchased his first tractor at age 23, and soon after incorporated Upper Canada Carriers and quickly grew to a fleet of six trucks, two fuel tankers, and five van trailers.

The Growth Years

Over the years, Doug strategically added employees and equipment to grow the company.

Upper Canada Carriers Inc. gradually built a reputation as a safe, dependable service provider, and Doug became known for his technical aptitude with equipment.

The tragic events of September 11, 2001, and all the changes it brought to cross-border freight transportation, motivated Doug to focus more energy and resources on specializing in bulk-fuel transport.

Upper Canada Carriers Inc. currently has eight trucks hauling bulk fuel.

The Future

Upper Canada Carriers’ vision is to be the bulk fuel carrier of choice in the markets we serve, ensuring we continue to walk the path of our values: safety compliance, continuous professional improvement for our people, excellence in customer service, integrity in all our dealings, and environmental stewardship over the long term.
